I heard that the change people throw in the fountains/attractions got collected & donated to a children’s charity. Is this true?

Disney has an organization that collects all the monies and donates them to various charities if they can. Some of the monies go to an employees’ volunteer fund. Money thrown into the stream at AKL is donated to Disney’s Wildlife Conservancy fund. Coins thrown into various waterways go to Quest, Inc, a nonprofit agency that employs people with disabilities. Coins thrown into ride areas like Small World and Pirates are not collected until a major rehab, usually when the water is drained. These coins are usually too corroded and water damaged to be used as currency, so are considered scrap metal.
