Late September is a great time to go as far as crowds, but early October starts to see Fall Breaks and growing crowds–discounts reflect this with a good part of October (especially the first half) being excluded from discounts for a couple of years. In September we’ve seen free dining with limited availability–but we never know what Disney is going to do until they make an official announcement (usually in the spring for fall discounts). Weather is variable, usually still quite warm, but you do have to watch out because that is the peak of hurricane season. Costs are difficult to guesstimate without knowing more about your travel party and dates. I would recommend contacting a Vacation Planner who knows the ins & outs of Disney vacations to work with you on a package for your family. Their services are normally completely free to you and they not only guide you through the booking but also monitor for those discounts for you.
